Field horsetail ( Equisetum arvense ) is a plant in the Equisetaceae family.
It is used in herbal medicine for its diuretic properties or for its silica content in order to strengthen bones, tendons or hair.
What are the properties and benefits of field horsetail?
Horsetail contains several compounds of interest:

- saponins
- silica
It has diuretic properties. It is often used for its silica content to help renew connective tissues, bones and tendons.
What are the health claims of horsetail?
Horsetail does not have any health claims validated by the EFSA. However, some of its uses are considered established by the EMA and Commission E.
