What is eleuthero?

Eleutherococcus is a genus of thorny trees in the Araliaceae family.

It is used in herbal medicine. It is often described as an adaptogenic plant for its properties that help the body respond to various stressors.

It is notably used in the fight against :

  • "stress"
  • fatigue
  • winter respiratory problems

What are the properties and benefits of eleuthero?

Eleutherococcus is attributed with adaptogenic properties similar to those of ginseng. These properties are thought to be due to the presence of eleutherosides, substances similar to ginsenosides, which are the active molecules in ginseng.

In short, eleuthero is mainly used as:

  • anti-stress
  • recovery activator
  • anti-inflammatory
  • tonic
  • hypoglycemic
  • stimulating
  • nootropic

Not all of these supposed effects are supported by solid scientific evidence.

What are the health claims of eleutherococcus?

There are no health claims validated by the EFSA concerning eleutherococcus.

However, its traditional use is recognized by health authorities (EMA, WHO, Commission, ESCOP) particularly for treating symptoms of fatigue, loss of strength, "low energy".

Eleutherococcus in Phytocea

At Phytocea , for its recognized effects in the treatment of asthenia symptoms, we have chosen to incorporate eleuthero into the Thyro formula.
Thyro is a food supplement for the thyroid, it is intended to contribute to good thyroid regulation and to counteract "low energy".
