Ingredient information: Glutathione
What is glutathione?
Glutathione is often called the "king of antioxidants," it is a molecule formed from glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine.
It exists in two forms: reduced or oxidized.
What are the properties of glutathione?
Glutathione is a tripeptide, composed of three amino acids:
- glutamate
- cysteine
- glycine
It exists in two forms:
- Reduced (GSH)
- Oxidized (GSSG)
These two form a redox couple which allows the exchange of electrons in the cell.
It is naturally present in the cells of plants and animals.
On the one hand, it chelates heavy metals (via its thiol group) and on the other hand, it plays a crucial role in protection against oxidants thanks to glutathione peroxidase.
It plays a crucial role in cell protection: it is the main antioxidant in cells (GSH form).
Glutathione in Phytocea?
Phytocea uses glutathione in the DTOX formula for its antioxidant and heavy metal chelating properties.
DTOX is a special Detox food supplement, it is intended to prevent damage related to contact with food contaminants (heavy metals, sulfates, nitrites, endocrine disruptors).
